Albert Louis Adams III    

GREENSBORO — Albert Louis Adams, III, died Monday, December 15, 2008, at Duke University Medical Center.

His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 19, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Westminster Gardens.

Born January 15, 1962, Louis was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Adams, Jr. of Greensboro, N.C. He graduated from Grimsley High School, attended Elon College and received his Fire Science degree from GTCC. He was an employee for the Parkwood Fire and Rescue EMS in Durham, N.C., as a firefighter/paramedic, and a volunteer firefighter at Gibsonville, part time security guard at Elon College, and for many years was employed at Elon Fire Department before going to Parkwood. He had an intense passion for the fire service and the EMT/paramedic profession. He spent most of his life in service to the community and in serving others. He taught firefighting and his students remember him as an excellent instructor.

Louis had many interests, firefighting, EMT, photography, Ham Radio, model railroading, collecting fire memorabilia, biking, musical concerts, Broadway plays, making many trips to New York City, as well as being with his family whenever possible. He achieved the Life award in the Boy Scouts of America and was christened as a baby at First Presbyterian Church and as a teenager he officially joined the church he loved.

His family and friends remember him as very caring, dedicated, witty, and a true Christian living out the Christian doctrine. He loved his family and friends and was always very kind to those around him. He loved his brotherhood and his co-workers with intense loyalty.

Louis suffered a massive heart attack on December 8, 2008, and never recovered.

Mr. Adams is survived by his parents; two daughters, Victoriana Adams of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Haley Adams of Greensboro, N.C.; and grandson, Oscar Adams of Cape Girardeau, Mo.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Street Funeral Home.

The family wishes to thank all those folks who were by his side during his good years and during his brief illness.
