Burlington, NC -- On September 30^th, 2008 at 2:16 am, Burlington Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Park Road Extension and Gilliam Road in reference to west bound Norfolk Southern Train involved in a collision. When officers arrived, the conductor of the train reported to officers that the train had struck someone who was seen by the train operator laying on the tracks. The train was unable to stop before striking the person.

The investigation by officers revealed the train struck a 21-year-old white male in the location of Park Road Extension and Hunter Road. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.  The victim was identified as Ronald Alan Graf Jr., date-of-birth August 8, 1987.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Burlington Police Department is conducting an investigation to determine if there were any extenuating circumstances surrounding his death. If anyone has information concerning this incident, please contact the Burlington Police Department at 229-3530.
