On August 7, 2008 between the hours of 8:00PM and 9:30 PM a total of 9 B&E of Motor Vehicles were reported to Burlington Police, most occurring at Alamance Crossing.

Ø       Five vehicles were entered while parked at Carousel Cinemas.

Ø       Three were entered while parked at Olive Garden

Ø       One was entered while parked at Cracker Barrel (Huffman Mill Rd)

The method of entry in all of these cases was by compromising the driver’s door lock and entering the driver’s door. Once entry was made in the vehicle, suspects took pocketbooks, GPS Systems, and in one case a dashboard TV and speakers.  In the Cracker Barrel case, a B/M operating a White Dodge Charger was observed and may be a suspect.

It appears as though the suspects were targeting vehicle electronics and cash and credit cards. One credit card that was stolen was used in Kernersville.

Motorists are urged to take easily seen items, such as GPS systems out of the vehicle if it is going to be left unattended. And even though the system may be out of plain view, some vehicles have been targeted because the distinctive mark that is left on the windshield from a GPS mounting bracket, indicating that the vehicle may have an aftermarket GPS system in it. Pocketbooks should be locked in the trunk.

UPDATE

A Second description of a White Dodge Charger occupied by a B/M was given and sent out to neighboring law enforcement agencies within fifty miles.

Deputies from Davidson County identified a White Dodge Charger and made a vehicle stop on I-85. As a result of the vehicle stop, items stolen from B&E MV’s from Burlington were located.

Burlington Police sent a team of officers to Davidson County to interview the suspects and begin to compile a list of recovered items.

The following is a list of the occupants and their charges. Additional charges will likely be added after preliminary reports, statements, and property is analyzed:
