UPDATE Crater St Shooting Investigation Print

Burlington, NC - On May 17, 2008 at 0025 hrs Burlington Police Units investigated a shooting that was later determined to have occurred at 414 Crater St., Burlington NC. The victim, Wallace Lee Hightower, B/M/41, of that residence had been taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center by private vehicle. Mr. Hightower was treated for two gunshot wounds but was later released. Mr. Hightower reported he was at his residence when an acquaintance and several other unidentified parties approached him, a disturbance occurred resulting in Mr. Hightower being shot. Investigation into the incident is continuing.

ON THE AFTERNOON OF MAY 17, 2008, WARRANTS WERE ISSUED FOR CAMILLE LAVETTE STONE, BLACK FEMALE, AGE 18 FOR ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON WITH INTENT TO KILL INFLICTING SERIOUS INJURY.  CAMILLE'S FAMILY LIVES AT 611 APPLE STREET IN BURLINGTON.   IT IS BELIEVED CAMILLE IS IN THE DURHAM AREA.  SHE IS DRIVING A WHITE 1993 NISSAN SENTRA, NC REGISTRATION XSS-4192.   

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Burlington Police Department at 229-3500 or Crimestoppers, at 229-7100

Update: Camille Stone turned her self into authorities yesterday afternoon. She was charged with AWDWWITKISI and placed in the Alamance County Jail under a $ 60.000    Bond 

On Saturday, May 31, 2008, The Burlington Police Department, Durham Police Department and Durham County Probation and Parole Officers arrested Deangelo Deshaun Ferrell, B/M, 23, at 804 Piper St., Durham, NC. Ferrell was charged with Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury, 1st Degree Burglary and Robbery W/Dangerous Weapon. He is currently being held in the Durham County Jail under at $750,000 bond. Ferrell is the boyfriend of Camille Stone, who was charged on May 17th, 2008.

Based on the investigation, Hightower and Ferrell had never met prior to the incident on Crater St. Camille Stone is the link between the victim and Ferrell.
