 Description:

 Responding on a citizen’s call, Burlington Police responded to Quality Mufflers, 2318 E. Maple Ave. Burlington, regarding a Break-In in progress. A witness had observed someone breaking into the business through a window. Cpl. Phillip Bolton responded to the scene, but did not immediately locate the suspect. Based on the description given by the caller, Bolton was able to locate the suspect a few blocks away.

 James Dwayne Barnes, W/M/44, of 917 Graham St., Burlington, was arrested and charged with B&E Business (Quality Muffler) and placed in the Alamance County Jail under a $5,000.00 bond.

 “This is the second time this week that a concerned citizen has called the police department regarding a crime in progress, and based on the information given we were able to locate the suspect and make an arrest. We are appreciative of the citizens who are observant of suspicious activity and call to report it.”

 On Feb 4, 2008 at 0030 hrs, Sgt. Brian Becmer was alerted to a B&E in progress at Radio Shack, 2312 E. Maple Ave., Burlington, regarding a B&E. Jerry Currie was arrested and charged with Attempted B&E of a business.
