Burlington, NC - Burlington Fire Department responded to the Garden Ridge Apartments on South Mebane Street around 8:43 am. The fire was contained to a second floor apartment and part the the attic. Several people were taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Update

A five-year-old boy and his father were transported to the hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead. The father was in critical condition.

Update

The cause of the fire was determined to be a faulty set of Christmas Tree Lights.
