At 17:02 Hours The Gibsonville Fire Department was dispatched to 417 Bethel St for a report of a tractor-trailer over-turned in front of this location.
Squad 6 was first on scene and reported a single tractor-trailer on its side. Car 1306 arrived and assumed Bethel St command. Engine 6 and Engine 206, also arrived and Began to assist with the scene. Command reported that the driver was not injured and EMS was canceled. The truck was carrying a load of car batteries. When the truck over-turned several of the batteries broke open, spilling battery acid across the road and into a drainage pipe. Guilford County HAZ-MAT, Emergency Management, and Environmental Heath all were called to the scene to assist. As of 19:16 hours units were still on scene where they will remain for several hours to assist with the clean up. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Whitsett Fire Department was requested to stand by at Gibsonville Station 6 for coverage in an event of another call.
