Alamance County, NC - Central Communications in Alamance County has been testing viper radios throughout Alamance County for two weeks. Several fire departments have been issued portable units and asked to roam areas in the county that under the current radio system have received poor or no reception. The testing sounds like it is going well. Communications have been made in areas where the old system would fail. Alamance county is testing on a digital talk group located on the statewide viper system. Firefighters involved in the testing are pleased with the operation and coverage area they are getting while using the viper system. Voice clarity is so much more improved on the viper system compared to the current radio system..
