Alamance County - Eli Whitney Station 5 was dispatched to Russell Rd for a report of a field fire. As units arrived on scene they noticed the fire was spreading fast towards a wooded area.

Station 5 command requested assistance from Snow Camp, E.M. Holt, Swepsonville, North Chatham, White Cross from Orange County, and The North Carolina Forestry Service.

Forest Service officials brought in one Helocopters to drop water onto the fire, one air plane observing, and two plows. The fire is expected to burn for about four to five days. They plowed a fire line around the primiter to keep the fire from spreading further.

Station 1 Swepsonville Engine 6 provided fire standby at station 5.

Command quickly placed units near houses just in case the fire headed towards them.

Alamance County fire Marshall, Alamance County EMS, Alamance County Sheriff's Deputies, all were on scene to assist as needed.
