Mr. Gerald David "Jerry" Donley Jr., 45, of 3150 Vickie Lane, Graham, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, following a sudden illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Traci Burge Donley and the son of Gerald David Donley Sr. and Sylvia Fogleman Donley, all surviving. He was the Deputy Chief of the Swepsonville Fire Department with over 28 years of service, a charter member of the N.C. Chapter 7 Red Knights Motorcycle Club, and a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by a son, Justin Chad Donley Sr. of Swepsonville; a daughter, Christina Michelle Donley of the home; one granddaughter, Lydia Hazel Donley; one grandson, Justin Chad Donley Jr.; a sister, Debbie Kerley and her husband Leon of Graham; a brother, Russell Donley and his wife Lisa of Graham; three nieces, Natalie Kerley, Kayla Donley, and Laurin Burge; and three nephews, Grey Donley, Nick White, and Trevor White.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Keyleigh Marie Donley.
The funeral will be conducted at Bethel Baptist Church on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Rick Chandler, the Rev. Brian Hurdle, chaplain of the Red Knights, and the Rev. Norman M. Whitney Sr. Burial will follow the funeral at Hawfields Presbyterian Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation, 2501 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 150, Raleigh, N.C. 27607.
