Guest Tuesday, 17 July 2007 | Firefighter/EMT ( A.O.F.D. Sta. 2) I only new Danny for the couple of months that he was in the Fire Department. But I felt like those few months were a few years. Danny is and will always be a friend and a brother to everyone at AOFD. For the sort time Danny was in the Fire Department, he was a asset to the department. Danny is our brother and no one at AOFD will forget that or forget him. R.I.P. |
| Chief Michael Barnette (Altamahaw, NC) Thursday, 28 June 2007 | Danny, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.. No words can express the pain that we feel for the loss of Danny. I've known Danny all my life and served with him on the fire department when he was a member in the 80's and it was a pleasure to have him rejoin to be with Justin just a few months ago. The feeling I got around 2:30 am on Saturday morning when the highway patrol called me to tell me that Danny had died and they needed to notify his family was a heart stopping feeling I have never had and never want again. There's many memories of Danny but the one I'll never forget happened on June 13,2007, 2 nights after Justin graduated. Danny and I were at the fire department sitting around and talking, Danny told me that he not only had a son but had gained a best friend. With tears in both our eyes he said that if anything ever happened he new that between Justin Newton, Ed Lipscomb and myself that Justin would be ok and taken care of. Well Danny, don't worry we will take care of Justin. I'm not sure if I think of Justin as my friend, brother or as a son. Maybe he's all three. Justin we love you and we will always be there for you. Danny, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.. |

| Edward Lipscomb Thursday, 28 June 2007 | Deputy Chief Altamahaw - Ossipee Fire Dept. Danny I still cant believe that you are gone. It was friday afternoon when I talked to you and you told me that you were coming home later on and you would stop by the station if it wasn't to late. I got a call from Mike at like 2:30 am saying you had been killed in a car wreck and I couldn't believe it. The feeling I cant even describe it. You were a true friend, as many times as we had talked about what a true friend was. You and i both knew what makes a friend a true friend and I am glad to have been your friend and fellow Firefighter. I can remember you calling me a few weeks ago all emotional telling me how you were so glad that justin had friends that cared and that you knew that if anything ever happened that Mike, Newton, and I would make sure Justin would be taken care of and how we were role models. I am here to tell you that we will make sure your son will be taken care of. We had some good times Danny and I will never forget the fun we had. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten for you were a True Friend Danny and I thank you for that. |
