Description:

On Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 2035 hours the victim Mr.. Michael Jason Wrenn, W/M/22, DOB 02.03.1985, of 221 Logan St., Burlington, N.C. was walking in the area of Logan St. and W. Webb Avenue. According to the victim a B/M approached him on a bicycle and began assaulting him. The suspect slammed the victim's head into a telephone pole, which tore his shirt and caused cuts to his chest and head. Victim reported the suspect took a silver chain from around his neck.

The suspect is described as follows: B/M, mid 30s, with small go-tee, wearing a faded black shirt, dirty blue jeans, ridding a 10-speed Mountain Bike, red in color. Last known direction of travel is unknown. 

The victim did not seek medical attention at the time of the reported crime. Anyone having information about this crime can call the Alamance County Crime Stoppers at (336) 229.7100 or the Burlington Police Department at (336) 229.3500. The investigation is continuing at this time.

Description:

 
On Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 2245 hours, the victim Ms. Peggy McCarthy Forbs, W/F, 78 years old, was walking out of the Wal-Mart Store located on Graham-Hopedale Road with a friend. The suspect approached Ms. Forbes from the rear as she was nearing her vehicle and grabbed her pocketbook that was hung on her right shoulder. Ms. Forbes did attempt to hold on to her pocketbook and ward off her attacker. The suspect violently jerked the pocketbook strap pulling Ms. Forbs to the ground.  The suspect then fled the parking lot on foot traveling North, running across N. Mebane Street toward N. Church Street. Concerned citizens shopping at the Wal-Mart at the time did attempt to pursue the suspect in their vehicle. 

Burlington Police units arrived on scene and engaged the suspect in a foot chase in a wooded area directly behind the Movie Gallery, which is located on N. Church Street. Officers quickly responded to the area and the suspect was apprehended following the foot pursuit. 

The victim suffered injuries to her right arm and wrist with bruising and a contusion to the right side of her head. The victim was treated and released from the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.

The suspect is described as Harvey Lyle Flinchom, W/M/26, DOB 01.12.1981 of 408 S. Saint John St., Burlington, N.C. The suspect is in the Alamance County Jail under a $40,000.00 secure bond.

 
UPDATE#2* Maple Avenue Shooting

Burlington, NC – A vehicle wanted by Burlington Police for shooting at Huffs Shell Station on Maple Avenue in Burlington was detained by Hillsborough Police, and North Carolina Highway Patrol at another convenience store off of NC86 North in Orange County.

UPDATE! 

ON 7-17-2007 AT 1434 HOURS ROBERT FLACK, B/M/19, OF 2322 APT 26 LAVISTA DRIVE, BURLINGTON, ENTERED THE HUFF’S INTERSTATE TEXACO AT 2562 E. MAPLE AVE. AND SAID HE HAD BEEN SHOT IN THE LEG.  HE WAS BEING TREATED AT THE ALAMANCE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER AT THE TIME OF THIS PRESS RELEASE.

THE SUSPECT IN THIS CASE IS A BLACK MALE, IN HIS 20’S, APPRX. 6’0”, 250-280 LBS, ROUND FACE, POSSIBLY HAVING BRAIDS IN HIS HAIR, WEARING A GREEN T-SHIRT, AND DARK COLORED SWEAT PANTS WITH THE LEGS EITHER CUT OFF OR ROLLED UP.  HIS APPEARANCE WAS DESCRIBED AS “DIRTY”. 

THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON THE ROADWAY INSIDE OF A RED NISSAN ALTIMA BEING DRIVEN BY CALVIN RAY STOKES, B/M/21, ALSO OF LAVISTA DRIVE.  AFTER THE SUSPECT SHOT FLACK, HE POINTED THE GUN AT THE DRIVER AND FORCED HIM TO DRIVE TO THE CHAPEL HILL AREA OF ORANGE COUNTY OR POSSIBLY DURHAM.  BOTH FLACK, AND ANOTHER PASSENGER IDENTIFIED AS SHERMAN WITHERS, B/M/20, OF BURLINGTON, FLED FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS MOVING AND STILL IN BURLINGTON.

STOKES WAS RELEASED BY THE SUSPECT WHEN HE EXITED THE CAR IN ORANGE OR DURHAM COUNTY.  ATTACHED ARE SURVEILANCE PICTURES MADE OF THE SUSPECT MAKING AN EARLIER PURCHASE IN THE STORE.

ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION AS TO THE IDENTITY OF THIS SUBJECT SHOULD CALL THE BURLINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT AT (336) 229-3500 OR CRIMESTOPPERS AT (336 )229-7100.

THE INVESTIGATORS ARE ALSO SEEKING INFORMATION ON THE DRIVER OF A WHITE VEHICLE WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN STRUCK OR SIDESWIPED BY THIS RED NISSAN ALTIMA ON MAPLE AVE. AT THE TIME OF THIS SHOOTING AND KIDNAPPING.  THE DRIVER IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE BURLINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT DUE TO THE FACT HE MAY HAVE WITNESSED THE INCIDENT.

FINAL UPDATE

 The suspect in this case has been identified as Jasmond Jevon Rogers, B/M/28, of Durham.  After committing the assault and kidnapping in Burlington, he committed other crimes in Durham.  With assistance from citizens alerting Durham Police to his location, the Durham Police Department’s S.E.T. Team took him into custody just after midnight on July 18, 2007 at a hotel.

Jasmond Jevon Rogers had an outstanding warrant for 1st Degree Murder from a drive-by shooting which occurred last month in Durham.  The Durham Police Department had been searching for Rogers since he was identified in that homicide.

Charges of Assault With A Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and Kidnapping will be taken to the next grand jury in Alamance County for the Burlington case.
